A new season has begun

Spring has sprung or has it?

According to Felicity Hayes-McCoy of Dingle, Ireland this is the time of Scairbhín na gCuach, the name given in Irish to the uncertain weeks between mid April to mid May when chilly winds from the north and the east can blast the early growth in the garden and send us scuttling home from walks on the mountain to nights of music by the fire.

Today it is so brisk a fire is exactly what is needed. Yet how do you explain that when the ladies dress in yellow and green for their time on the Thea Foss Waterway the weather is perfect every time?  Every Monday even in the season of Scairbhín na gCuach the weather becomes perfect!

With a pinch for continued Irish luck let me tell you the tale of this past month.

First though - thank you's are in order!
It is wonderful to have community friends - organizations, businesses, or local residents who are not involved with the Verite help solved Verite's needs.

We would like to first thank the Foss Waterway Seaport for providing space for Verite's winter restorative work. It was a new arrangement for the winter work cycle and the crew couldn't be more pleased with results. The collaboration, cooperation and accommodations were sublime.

With the winter work done it is tradition that Verite soak for a week or more to plump her up.  Thank yous go to the Breakwater Marina for allowing the Verite to soak at their dock during the start of a busy boating season. Thank you for keeping Verite safe and sound while she juiced up for the coming season.

Thank you to Leslie and her husband for answering the call when it came time to move the Verite home. With the weather less than favorable and the crew scattered to the winds, it was so appreciated. Thank you and team for your tender care of the most beautiful wooden boat in the Thea Foss Waterway!

On April 12, Verite had her first outing. There were several activities on the waterfront as part of the Daffodil Marine Parade. The Museum was featuring Pierce County Library's Read program featuring "Boys in the Boat."

Our part - "Girls, okay....Women in the Boat"

There were lots of pretty boats.

This one was our favorite. It was so sparkly!

None as pretty as Verite - just me saying.
The Curtis Crew,  our Sea Scout compadres, however,  looked really, really sharp! There were whistles and commands and at ease too.

Friends stopped by to see what was up. There was lots of laughing and...

goofing around....

and singing....

Then there's bagpiping I think?

It was fun, and funny, and exactly what we do - all the time.
We are girls that just want to have f-u-u-u-n!
After all... we all  can be ageless if we want to be.
You can too!
