High Tea at Low Sea 2013

10th Annual
High Tea at Low Sea

July 22, 2013

High Tea at Low Sea is a magical affair that is held once a year in June or July during the lowest of  tides in Carr Inlet. Timing is everything. When the time is right a small spit of land - Wyckoff Shoal - becomes exposed. With precision and grace the crews from the Vérité, the Joe and several smaller unnamed boats converge. Squeals are heard as Vérité's crew scrambles over the side into the receding waters. A table is quickly constructed, flowers arranged, and soon the table is laid with an dizzying array of finger sandwiches, salmon, desserts and more. The silver tea service, polished and bright, sits at one end of the white linen-covered planks, ready to serve. With all present, hands connected to hands, the words were said "...within this happy circle..." The rest of the prayer drifted on the winds and into the sky as herons circled, gooey ducks spouted, crabs scuttled under foot, and the magnificent seaweed twinkled against the blue sky.

 Waiting...
Do you see the two rocks behind the Vérité?
