Monday morning was nothing but showers, but by afternoon the skies opened with only puffy clouds dotting the blue sky. The day's challenge was to learn how to sail on the Walker Bays. They are a small sailing boat with a wide bumper edge, room for two if you scrunch down into the hull, and easy for the beginner. Miss M. gave us our instructions on how to put the boat together - slide this here, clip that here, tied down there, run the sheet through there. It was simple enough, but the trick - to find and keep the wind. OH, the wind (she? he?) is a fickle thing on fall winter days.
Our reward... homemade garden soup, cheese and crackers, cookies galore,
and the well liked fruit nut bread.
A shout out to our intrepid skipper and crew for helping with the fundraiser this past week
and to those participating in this week's adventure.
Well done mates!
In October Verite will be home. Fire up your ovens! A celebration can't be far behind.
