Seventy 48

The news as we know it:
Our Women on the Water book got accepted into the "All Stitched Up" show at the Collins Library at University of Puget Sound. The show starts in September so watch for more news.

We have been working on oars and floorboards while on of the planks is being refitted and the ribs redone - major work. I haven't been good about taking pictures but it is mostly like watching paint dry.

In the meantime we have done some other activities to keep us from breathing down the necks of those doing the hard stuff. We are just so anxious to be back on the water!!!
This last Friday night a gang of us stood on the Murray Morgan - 11th Street bridge to watch and cheer on the participants of the Seventy 48 race. It was great watching them head out the Foss Waterway. I think almost every type of hand powered boat ever made was represented.
The first one that makes it to Port Townsend is the winner!

The photo boat gets into position

Way down the waterway in front of the Glass Museum - the boats are all lined up -
waiting for the signal.

These ones were fast!

The pinks looked sharp.

Sure, you can bicycle to Port Townsend!

We heard the kids on this trimaran were from Colorado and
they trained on a lake at night so they would be prepared to paddle through the night.

Looks like they let the pirates in too.

 There they go....

The Sea Scouts watching from the Oddysey

Waiting for the last boat to go under the bridge....

Here's a link to the winners:

Tomorrow it is back to boat saucing the oars.
