Pie Time at Muriels

 Imagine...

Sitting comfortably, sharing stories past and present, and energetic discussions about politics and medical achievements. The last story for the day was about an amazing coincidence, and even more enlightening was that it it was about a boat full of women and it challenged our knowledge of the Norwegian arctic.

Stories turned into plates of delicious treats which included a slice of Muriel's pie - always a highlight. Walking Muriel's garden finished off the day with such pleasant smells and tastes (huge blackberries) and beauty. It was simply a delightful day.

Fondly we thought about those who were not there with us today. Some had full schedules,
others have been sorely missed for some time now.

Here's a tribute to one dear WOWer - Voski Sprague.
The words were hers.
She was a gift to all who knew her.

Time to Leave the Shoal

Watercolor by Muriel Taylor

Everything is beautiful and I am so sad.

This is how the heart makes a duet of wonder and grief.

The light spraying through the lace of the fern is as delicate as the fibers of memory forming their web around the knot in my throat.

The breeze makes the birds move from branch to branch as this ache makes me look for those I have lost in the next room,

in the next song,

in the laugh of the next stranger.

In the very center,

under it all,

what we have that no one can take away and all that we’ve lost face each other,

It is there that I’m adrift,

feeling punctured by a holiness that exists inside everything.

I am so sad and everything is beautiful.
