Adventure is OUT THERE!

This week has been very exciting. After a winter of major effort the Verite is ready to be shipped off to Roskilde, Denmark for the Atlantic Challenge. See the tabs under our heading for more information about that.

Roskilde, located 30 km west of Copenhagen on the Danish island of Zealand, is the main city in Roskilde Municipality. With a population of 50,046, the city is a business and educational centre for the region and the 10th largest city in Denmark.

Here are some of the before and after pictures...
Maria did a magnificent job of threading the needle... what I call backing up the boat and trailer through a narrow door, down a long passageway and nearly into the container the Verite will be transported in. It was awesome! Not to mention navigating the pot holes and train tracks on the way over to Trident Shipping.

Before: The first row of the season....

The Sunday Sailors

Here she is - waiting for her big overland adventure...

Look at her gleam in the sunshine...

And we are off...we leave the Sea base behind and duck our heads as we go under the 11th street bridge.

We wind our way through the tideflats.

Onto the freeway!

 We made it!  Trident Seafoods...

  First run at it...

She was nearly all the way in and then...

What! We forgot to pull Verite forward on the trailer so she'd fit in the box!

Then too the ramp wasn't wide enough... the trailer wanted to fall off the sides.

It was something else... and moving her forward...

it was not an easy task either!

The bumper rails had to be released.

And then there was adding water to the boat...
she might get thirsty on her way around the world.

Don't forget the tire!

Closer'er up boys and girls... she's ready to go!

Of course someone noticed the rope and bundles... just a picture we said,
with heads shaking.... we said to each other, once a weaver, always a weaver.

After a good morning's effort... lit was off to Alfred's - for all day breakfast!
